Junior

A 3-20 to 2-13 victory over Borris-Ileigh in Roscrea secured a quarter-final spot. MacDonaghs led 1-9 to 0-9 at the interval. The goal came in the 7th minute when Jack Mulcahy rifled the sliotar to the net after Oisín O’Meara had created the opportunity with a pin-point cross. On the resumption, the Magpies hit the ground running. Eoin Carroll fired over a point and Jack Mulcahy volleyed home his second goal with a one-handed effort. Kilruane had a seven-point advantage and Borris-Ileigh’s task became insurmountable when two of their players saw red. Sean McAdams was introduced and slotted over four trademark points. To Borris-Ileigh’s credit, they battled away and goals in the 56th and 60th  minutes cut the gap to four points.  Kilruane responded with three unanswered points and Kevin Shinners administered the coup de gras with a goal in the 63rd minute.

Minor

In the fourth round of the championship, Kilruane MacDonaghs (2-17) and Toomevara (0-23) played out a very entertaining draw in MacDonagh Park. An injury time point from Austin Duff rescued a share of the spoils for the Greyhounds. This was a very competitive encounter between two evenly matched sides who were level on no less than eleven occasions during the hour. We led 2-12 to 0-13 at the interval with Ray Quinlivan and Charlie Kennedy raising the green flags. We were ahead by the minimum in added time when Toomevara struck for the equaliser.

Team: Andrew Austin, Donncha O’Meara, Fearghal Doheny, Jack Quinlisk, Paul Molloy, Shane Cleary, Cormac Gaynor, Michael Hennelly, Cormac Kennedy (0-3), Tommy O’Meara (0-2), Johnny Naughnane (0-1), Michael Cleary (0-10, 0-3 free), Charlie Kennedy (1-0), Cathal McIntyre, Ray Quinlivan (1-1).
