A 2-25 to 0-17 away victory over Holycross-Ballycahill secured top spot in our County League group and a place in the semi-final against Templederry Kenyons. In the sweltering heat — there was a water break in each half — MacDonaghs made a lightning start to the game and struck five unanswered points in the first five minutes. A goal from Thomas Cleary put the Magpies 1-8 to 0-2 in front. At the interval there were thirteen points between the sides with the score 1-17 to 0-7. Holycross improved in the second half but any hopes of a revival were dashed in the 40th minute when Thomas Cleary crashed home his second goal. MacDonaghs saw out the game in a comfortable fashion to remain unbeaten in the League.
