Junior ‘A’
Our county championship campaign ended in a 1-21 to 2-13 quarter-final loss to Galtee Rovers in Holycross. After twenty-four minutes, the teams were level: MacDonaghs 2-4, Galtee 1-7. Brian O’Meara scored a superb goal in the eighth minute, and in the 24th minute, Conor Cleary and Eoin Hogan combined to set up Cian Moyles for another terrific goal. The Bansha side responded with five unanswered points to lead 1-12 to 2-4 at half-time. Kilruane started the second half brightly, with points from Cian Moyles and Cillian Healy reducing the deficit to three. We cut the margin to three points on five occasions after the break but could get no closer. Galtee ultimately ran out deserving five-point winners.
Despite the loss, the team enjoyed a highly successful season, winning both the North and County Leagues and reclaiming the North championship for the first time since 1998. Thanks to the players and management for their tremendous commitment throughout a long campaign.

Minor
We lost 1-20 to 0-13 to a formidable Newport side in the North ‘A’ Final in Borrisoleigh. The scoreline did not do the team justice. From the start, they took the game to a physically stronger Newport side and raced into an early three-point lead. We were still in the hunt at half-time, with Newport leading 0-10 to 0-7. Our team showed great heart and determination and stayed in the contest until a Newport goal proved decisive. The players made tremendous progress this year, and we thank them and the management for their outstanding work throughout the season. Congratulations to Newport on their victory, and we wish them the best of luck in the County Championship.
