Our second team gave a very good account of themselves in the County ‘C’ Kate Manton Cup final in Cashel but had to give second best to a good Newport side on a 2-13 to 2-3 scoreline.

Team: Daryl King, Ben Sheils, Ronan Hayes, Riain Harte, Sean Whelan, Conn Foley, Harry O’Meara, Tiarnán Casey (0-1), Harry Gannon, Sam Harding, Shane Carroll (1-2, 0-2 frees), Isaac Hussey Sheahan, Daniel O’Brien, Mark Gaynor, Tom Hannan. Subs: Paul Williams (1-0), Brian Quinlisk, Jody Williamson Donnelly, Aidan Fahey, Conor O’Meara.

It was a great achievement to reach the final.  Thanks to the players and management for all their efforts during the year. Harry Gannon was named Kilruane MacDonaghs player of the final, and he was presented with his award by Brendan Cummins. Congratulations to Newport on their victory.  Thanks to Ray Manton and family, Coiste na Óg Chairman PJ Bowden and his committee for running this very well organised competition.

Under 7 & Under 9

Last Friday evening, the U7 and U9 panels teamed up with the U8 girls for their annual presentation. Thanks to Craig Morgan and Amy Quinlisk, who were on hand to make the presentations. Thanks to the coaches for their work with these groups during the year.

Cumann ma mBunscol

Well done to Cloughjordan NS U13 boys football team who qualified for their fourth North final in a row with victories over Scoil Eoin, Roscrea and Ardcroney. The U11 girls football team had victories over Ballina, Borrisoleigh and Carrig in their Blitz. A one-point loss to Gaelscoil Nenagh in the playoff deprived them of a place in the knockout stage.
