In the County Quarter-Final Kilruane MacDonaghs will play Clonoulty-Rossmore in Templetuohy on Sunday at 4.00pm. We need massive support for the lads as they take on the County Champions. Shelve all other plans for Sunday and get to Templetuohy to drive the team on.

In another of the Quarter-Finals, MacDonagh Park will host the clash of Kiladangan and Toomevara on Saturday at 1.45pm. All stewards are asked to report for duty at 12.30pm.

Under 15

In the semi-final of the ‘A’ Plate MacDonaghs lost out to a stronger Éire Óg side in Nenagh.

Paddy Quinlan Tournament

The annual Paddy Quinlan Tournament took place last Saturday morning. Despite the heavy rain MacDonagh park was in pristine condition for a brilliant morning’s hurling. Participating clubs were Na Piarsaigh, Burgess, Portroe, Boherlahan Dualla and Kilruane MacDonaghs.

In the U9 shield final MacDonaghs were up against Na Piarsaigh. With both clubs having big numbers it was decided that each panel would divide into two teams and play two finals and use aggregate score to determine the winners. This proved very popular as every child played in the final.

Led by joint captains Ciaran Foote and Lukah Williams MacDonaghs played some great hurling and came out on top. It has been a fantastic last four weeks for this group, winning tournaments in Craughwell, Boherlahan and now our own Paddy Quinlan Tournament.

In the U10 Cup competition MacDonaghs played a strong Burgess team in the semi-final. This was a very tight affair with MacDonaghs winning by two points. In the other semi-final Boherlahan overcame Portroe.

We now had a Cup final between Boherlahan and MacDonaghs who six days previously needed extra time to separate them. A very determined MacDonaghs team took control from the start playing superb hurling and kept a gallant Boherlahan team at arm’s length. This was a great panel display led by wholehearted captain James Gould. Burgess came out on top against Portroe in the Plate final.

Thanks very much to the Quinlan family for their continued support of this great tournament and to our three referees Joe Cahill, Jimmy Cahill and Eoin O’Meara.  Also huge a thank you to all the parents for supplying food and those who helped out in the kitchen.

Cumann na mBunscol
