 Junior

In the Junior ‘C’ final, we play Silvermines in Toomevara this Saturday, 11th November, at 2.00pm.  Silvermines go into the game as favourites, so we need our supporters to travel to Toomevara in large numbers and get behind the lads. Admission is by ticket or Tap & Go.

U21

In the preliminary hurling quarter-final, we had a 1-19 to 1-15 extra-time victory over Moneygall Clonakenny in Moneygall. MacDonaghs had the aid of the breeze in the first half and led 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval. Midway through the half, Aaron Morgan sustained an ankle injury. He was pushed forward to the edge of the square while Cian Moyles took on the onerous task of policing Tipperary U20 player Seanie Kenneally. Aaron’s mobility was severely restricted, but he won four vital frees which were converted, and raised the crucial green flag.

We had a four-point advantage with normal time up. A goal from Cian Ryan and a point from Seanie Kenneally in added time left the teams tied on 0-13 to 1-10. After the first period of extra time, Moneygall Clonakenny were two points ahead. On the resumption, Aaron Morgan found the net after the industrious Sean Hayes created the opportunity. This edged MacDonaghs into the lead, and they managed to keep their noses in front until the final whistle.

Team: Kevin Naughnane, Danny Cahalan, Aaron Morgan (1-0), Cian Hayes, Cormac Doheny, David O’Sullivan, Eamonn Coonan, Cian Moyles, Cathal England, Brian O’Meara (0-2), Jack Mulcahy, Nathan Lynch (0-1), Eoin Carroll (0-6 frees), Páidí Williams (0-9, 0-6 frees), Paul Dwyer. Subs: Sean Hayes (0-1), Tristan Madden, Eoin O’Meara. Referee: Mark Gennery (Portroe)

In the quarter-final, we are away to Newport this Sunday, 12th November at 12.00pm.

Niall O’Meara

Niall O’Meara has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling. The Kilruane MacDonaghs Club would like to acknowledge Niall’s contribution to Tipperary. He was the quintessential team player in the blue & gold jersey. His goal in the 2019 All-Ireland Final will live long in the memory. Niall was a magnificent ambassador for the club. He was, is, and will continue to be a great role model in the Kilruane MacDonaghs Club, giving generously of his time to our juvenile players. We look forward to Niall making a significant contribution on and off the field with the club for many years to come. Míle buíochas Niall.
