Junior
Congratulations to the Junior ‘A’ football team on their 1-14 to 0-10 victory over Burgess in the North Final in MacDonagh Park. This was the first time we claimed this particular title. We won the ‘B’ title in 1975 (then called No 2) and 2022. The divisional senior title has been captured on five occasions.
For last Saturday’s encounter, the field was in remarkably good condition considering the recent adverse weather. The visitors began impressively and led 0-4 to 0-1 after six minutes. MacDonaghs gradually found their feet, and an Oisín O’Meara goal in the twenty-sixth minute put the Magpies ahead, and they were never in arrears from that point on. On the cusp of half time, Niall O’Meara had to depart the scene with a hamstring injury. Cian Darcy proved to be a capable replacement. At the interval, Kilruane led by 1-4 to 0-6. Kevin Shinners had made a couple of great saves in the opening half to deny Burgess a green flag.
MacDonaghs had the better of matters in the second half. The introduction of Craig Morgan and Páidí Williams strengthened the team. Up front, Aaron Morgan was a constant threat, and he helped himself to five points over the hour while he also won two frees, which were converted. After the game, Brendan Shanahan, North Board Chairman, presented the trophy to captain Oisín O’Meara.
Team: Kevin Shinners, Sean Quinlan, Eanna Hogan, Kevin Oakley, Conor Austin, Niall O’Meara (0-1 free), Eoin Hogan, Kian Kelly (0-1), David O’Sullivan, Mark O’Neill, Robert Austin, Cillian Healy (0-3, 0-1 free), Aaron Morgan (0-5), Philip Kennedy, Oisín O’Meara (1-0). Subs: Cian Darcy, Craig Morgan, Páidí Williams (0-4 frees), Cormac Doheny, Paddy Ryan.

U21
We are home to Newport in the ‘B’ semi-final this Sunday, 30th November, at 12.00pm. €5 admission by Tap & Go. In last year’s semi-final, we lost to the same opposition by the minimum of margins in MacDonagh Park. It will take a herculean effort by our lads to carry the day as Newport have almost all last year’s team available for selection. The club is asking all our supporters to gather in the stand and get behind the team.
Harty Cup
Shane Cleary, Cormac Kennedy, Hugo Healy, Charlie Kennedy and Cillian Healy all saw action with Nenagh CBS in their victory over Cashel in round three.
