Inter County

Well done to Niall O’Meara, Cian Darcy, Jerome Cahill, Eamon O’Shea and the Tipperary senior team on their impressive victory over Cork. Best of luck against Waterford on Sunday. Hopefully, the minor team that includes Páidí Williams can bounce back from the loss to Cork.

Senior

We picked up our first win in the County League with a 1-17 to 1-14 home victory over Moycarkey-Borris. As is now customary in this League both sides were under strength. MacDonaghs were severely depleted with only seven of the team that started against Silvermines available. Despite resources being stretched to the limit, this was a very satisfactory performance with many of our key players showing prominently.

MacDonaghs led by 0-11 to 0-5 at the break. A Seamus Hennessy goal from a twenty-metre free two minutes into the second half put MacDonaghs into the driving seat with an eight-point advantage. In the 44th minute Moycarkey found the net to reduce the gap to three points. However, they never got any closer and the home team saw the game out despite losing Darragh Peters with over ten minutes to go— precautionary measure I believe.

Team: Conor Doheny, Conor Austin, Jack Peters, James Cleary, Caoilainn Conroy, Darragh Peters, Eoin Hogan (0-3), Ray McLoughney (0-4, 0-2 from frees), Seamus Hennessy (1-4, 1-2 from frees), Sean McAdams, Conor Cleary (0-1), Mark O’Neill (0-1), Niall Shinners, Thomas Cleary  (0-3) and Paddy Ryan. Subs: Kevin Oakley and Kevin Ryan. In the fifth round we will play Drom & Inch on the weekend of 26th May.

Junior

Our League campaign came to end with a 2-22 to 1-12 loss against Newport in Lacken Park. Both teams were out of contention so the management decided to experiment. It was a lack lustre performance by the Magpies who must now regroup for the championship which commences 8th

Team: Niall Shinners, David Mooney, Martin Grace, Kevin Oakley, Declan Barrett (0-2, 0-1 free), Kevin Ryan, Cormac Williams, Louis Kennedy (0-1), Caoilainn Conroy, Fionnan Minogue, Pat Williams (0-2), Luke Dervan, Conor Doheny (1-5, 0-4 frees), Cormac Mannion (0-1) and Eoin England. Subs: Mark O’Neill (0-1), Paddy Ryan, Conor Austin and Mark O’Meara.

Minor

In the seventh round of the League we have a home game against Borris-Ileigh on this Thursday, 16th May at 7.00pm. The sixth round game against Borrisokane will be rescheduled for a later date.
