U17 Football

In the first round of the North/Mid League, we recorded a 2-8 to 3-4 away victory over Lorrha/Rovers. Both sides were short a number of regulars. First half goals from Tom Austin and Michael Hennelly laid the foundation for victory. Kilruane hit crossbar three times in the first fifteen minutes, getting a goal from one rebound, and  should have been out of sight after the first quarter. MacDonaghs led 2-3 to 1-4 at the interval.
Ĺorrha raised a green flag very early in the second half, but MacDonaghs took over after that until Lorrha found the net near the end to draw level. Kilruane surged down the field, and Tommy Burriss, on the run, sent the ball sailing between the posts for the winning score.

Team: Johnny Naughnane, Jack Quinlisk, Fearghal Doheny, Simon Austin, Paul Molloy, Eamonn Coonan, Cormac Gaynor, Cathal England, Tommy Burriss (0-1), Michael Hennelly (1-1), Brian O’Meara (0-2), John Hannan, Cathal McIntyre, Tom Austin (1-0), Michael Cleary (0-4, 0-2 frees). Subs (All Used): Colin Doris, Lucas Jones, Fiachradh Woods, Colm McAteer. Thanks tom Liam Grace who did the First Aid.

Next Sunday we are at home to Moyne Templetuohy at 2.30pm.

Medal Presentation

The U13 ‘A’ and ‘D’ hurling teams, looking resplendent in their new Darcy Sport tops, were presented with their North and County medals in the Complex last Wednesday night. Senior players Craig Morgan, Willie Cleary and Cian Darcy were on hand to do the honours. Juvenile Chairman Lenny Gaynor welcomed everybody to the function, congratulated the players on their achievements, complimented the mentors on their commitment throughout the year, thanked the parents for their unwavering support and expressed his gratitude to the officials of both the Senior and Juvenile Clubs for their co-operation.

Martin O’Looney introduced each player as they received their medals while Eoin Campbell captured the presentations on camera.  Every player also received a framed action photo, sponsored by Neilly McGrath, Caroline McGrath and photographer Eoin Campbell. This very generous gesture by Neilly, Caroline and Eoin was very much appreciated by the players, parents, and the club thanks them for their generosity. The management team of Martin O’Looney, Mark O’Leary, Aidan Ryan, Liam Grace, Lenny Gaynor, Enda McLoughney and John O’Meara  received presentations in recognition of their tremendous work with both teams during 2022. The function concluded with refreshments for everybody, and we thank the parents who came up trumps once more by providing some delicious fare that was appreciated by all present.
