Inter-County

Best of luck to Hugo Healy and the Tipperary minor team in the All-Ireland final against Limerick.

Senior

We made our exit from the North championship, after we lost 1-16 to 1-21 against a sharper Roscrea side in Nenagh. Roscrea made a whirlwind start and led 0-5 to 0-1 after five minutes. MacDonaghs found their feet and although they played second fiddle for most of the half, they just trailed 0-13 to 0-9 at the interval. On the resumption, substitute Thomas  Cleary cut the deficit with a point. A minute later, a Cian Darcy goal had the teams level. Roscrea responded with a point before a brace of points from Craig Morgan and Kian O’Kelly put the Magpies ahead for the first time. It looked like the tide had turned, but  Roscrea got great joy from their own puckouts throughout the half. They scored their goal with ten minutes left,  and this gave them the cushion to see out the game down the home straight. Attention now switches to County championship where Kilruane will face a Holycross team littered with players who have inter-county experience in different grades. It will take a monumental effort to overcome the Mid side who are one of the favourites top lift Dan Breen.

Team: Páidí Williams, Cormac Kennedy (0-2), Aaron Morgan, Jack Peters, Kieran Cahill (0-2), Niall O’Meara (0-1), James Cleary, Craig Morgan (0-1), Shane Cleary, Willie Cleary (0- 10, 0-9 frees), Jerome Cahill (0-1), Cian Darcy (1-2), Michael Cleary, Kian O’Kelly (0-1), Tommy O’Meara. Sub: Thomas Cleary (0-1).

Junior

In the first round of the championship, we came out the wrong side of a 5-23 to 0-20 scoreline against Kiladangan in Toomevara. After eighteen minutes, we led 0-10 to 0-8 and in looked like this game would go down to the wire. However, Kiladangan scored three goals before the interval to lead 3-12 to 0-12 as the teams adjourned to the dressing rooms. Kilruane couldn’t wrestle back control of the game in the second half, and Kiladangan ran out comfortable winners in the second half. MacDonagh now have a must-win game against Toomevara on 3rd July.

Team: Kevin Naughnane, Paul Molloy, Eanna Hogan, David O’Sullivan, Paddy Ryan (0-1), Cormac Doheny, Eoin Hogan (0-2, 0-1 free), Matthew Noyles, Conor Austin (0-1), Cillian Healy (0-3), Mark O’Neill (0-1), Brian O’Meara (0-8, 0-6 frees)Charlie Kennedy (0-2), Eoin Carroll, Fiachradh Ahearne Woods (0-1). Subs: Cathal England, Seamus Hennessy (0-1 free), Eamonn Coonan, Michael Hennelly.

Walkathon

Kilruane MacDonaghs has launched an exciting new community Walkathon Fundraiser, “40 Miles for 40 Years,” to mark the 40th anniversary of the club’s All-Ireland Club Championship victory and to invest in the future of the parish. The fundraiser will support the development of a new pitch and a 1km community walking track, facilities that will benefit the wider community for generations to come. The club is calling on all members of the community — young and old - at home and abroad to get involved and support the campaign. Individuals, families, teams, and local businesses can take ownership of a mile and contribute through sponsorship and fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in participating or supporting the initiative is encouraged to contact any committee member for further details.
