All-Ireland Final

Congratulations to Craig Morgan and the Tipperary team on the magnificent victory over Kilkenny. Our U13s travelled to Croke Park to support Craig, Amy Quinlisk and the Tipperary teams. Thanks to the coaches who organised the trip.

The demand for the final tickets will exceed the supply, so the club will not be able to facilitate every request. Supporters should seek tickets from any available source.

The club is asking householders to paint the parish blue and gold to support the Tipperary hurling and camogie teams.

In the third round of the ‘A’ championship, Kilruane MacDonaghs and Toomevara shared the points in St. Michael’s Park. Both sides scored 1-14. It was a typical Irish summer’s evening for the game, damp and breezy. MacDonagh’s had to line out without the services of Paul Molloy, Cathal England, Michael Cleary and Jack Peters but welcomed back Brian O’Meara who was an absentee for the Kiladangan game. Cian Moyles opened the scoring in the second minute with the home side equalising in the third minute. Scores were at a premium in the early exchanges. Paddy Ryan ghosted up the stand side of the field in the seventh minute and fired over a peach of a point. A Toomevara goal in the seventeenth minute saw them edge into a 1-3 to 0-3 lead. The Magpies responded well to this setback with a Conor Doheny goal in the twenty-first minute, putting the visitors a point ahead. At the interval, MacDonaghs led 1-9 to 1-4.

On the resumption, Kilruane were dealt a blow when Paddy Ryan, who had sustained a leg injury in the first half, was forced to leave the field. Sean Quinlan entered the fray as his replacement. Heading into the final quarter, MacDonaghs had a three-point cushion. Corner-back David O’Sullivan departed the scene in the forty-ninth minute with an injury. The selectors were forced to shuffle the deck. Johnny Naughnane was despatched to corner-back, and Kevin Oakley was called into the action. As injury time loomed, Cillian Healy swung over a terrific point from an acute angle on the left  wing to put the Magpies two clear. A Toomevara point from play and another from a free brought the teams level before Ger Fitzpatrick sounded the long whistle. It was a fair result and a valuable point gained for a depleted Kilruane outfit.

Thanks to parents Ruth McLoughney, Sharon Byrne, Catherine Blackburn and Lisa O’Sullivan who assisted with the supervision.
