Junior ‘A’

Our ‘A’ team recorded a 3-25 to 4-14 victory over Toomevara in the second round of the championship.  This victory keeps us in the hunt for a qualification spot with everything hinging on the results in the final round. MacDonaghs started brightly and were four points ahead inside the first five minutes before a pair of Bob Delaney points from frees got Toomevara off the mark. At the interval, Kilruane were not flattered to lead by four points with the scoreboard reading 0-16 to 2-6 in their favour. Mickie Delaney (24m) and Tim Flaherty (30m) raised the Toomevara green flags.

On turnover, the Magpies remained in control and, with two minutes of normal time left, were cruising with a thirteen-point lead. Eoin Carroll (41m) and Charlie Kennedy (43m) found the net for MacDonaghs. Toomevara rallied late, scoring two goals to cut the deficit to five. There were a few anxious glances at the watches before Eoin Carroll got the Toomevara defence in the 63rd minute and arrowed the sliotar past Darragh Hayes to seal the victory.
