Window on the Past

In last week’s notes, Joe Williams was listed as a Harty Cup winner with St. Flannan’s in 1957 and 1958. His brother Pat won a Leinster Colleges ‘A’ medal in 1952 with Patrician College, Ballyfin, when the Laois school overcame Knockbeg College in the final. Pat and Joe may be the only set of brothers to win colleges ‘A’ hurling medals in different provinces. Pat also played in the 1951 final when Ballyfin lost to St. Kieran’s. The 1951 team was captained by his brother Neil and also included Toomevara’s Matt Hassett.
