Kilruane MacDonaghs Notes Dec-07-2020
The Annual General Meeting is pencilled in for Friday, 22nd January. If restrictions don’t allow the meeting to proceed in the normal fashion, we will revert to plan B and go online. In such a scenario members can email the secretary to obtain both the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports.
The Jackpot now stands at a very attractive €2,200. On next Monday night the Christmas Lotto Draw takes place with an extra €1,000 in prizes to be won. Thanks for your continued support.
The fifth Draw takes place on this Friday night. Subscribers and promoters are asked to ensure that all payments are brought up to date.
Since 1963 Rohan’s Shop on Church Road, which closed last week, has been an integral part of daily life in Cloughjordan Village. Kitty Rohan ran the thriving friendly shop until her passing in 2009 when her daughter Kathleen took over the mantle.
It was more an institution than a shop, open from early ‘til late, popular with customers young and the old & an invaluable asset for the MacDonaghs club. It was a drop off centre for Lotto tickets, keys, sliotars etc. No training session or match in MacDonagh Park was complete without a pitstop at Rohan’s to sample some tasty treats.
Thanks to Kathleen for her service to the community. We wish her many happy years in retirement.
The club extends sympathy to Allen O’Shea, Towcester, England and formerly, Ballysteena, Cloughjordan on the death of his wife Michaela and to Michael Kelly, Moanfin on the death of his mother Margaret Kelly (née Ryan), Ormond Street, Nenagh.
