Minor

As the teams began their warm-ups, rain of biblical proportions left MacDonagh Park, Nenagh unplayable, forcing the postponement of last Sunday’s final against Newport. It has been refixed for Wednesday, 9th September, in Borrisoleigh, at 6.30pm.

We were edged out by Toomevara, 1-16 to 1-13, in the semi-final in Moneygall. The sides were level at half-time, Kilruane MacDonaghs 1-7 to Toomevara’s 0-10, after Tadhg Teefey raised the green flag. Toomevara moved a point ahead after the restart, but Mark Cleary surged forward from centre-back to equalise. Jack O’Meara then put MacDonaghs in front with a point. Toomevara responded with four unanswered points before a brace of white flags from Jack O’Meara and Michael Hutchinson (free) cut the deficit to the minimum, However, Toomevara regained control with a goal. Kilruane battled to the finish but could not close the gap.

The team received quality training throughout the year, and although they fell just short on this occasion, the players developed as hurlers and will reap the rewards in the years ahead. Thanks to all the players for their commitment and effort. A special word of thanks also goes to the management team, who took on the demanding task of looking after two teams.
