Senior

In the second round of the County championship, we lost to 4-20 to 0-26 against Moycarkey Borris in Templederry. There was very little between the teams in the first quarter, and MacDonaghs led 0-7 to 1-3 after twelve minutes. A  brace of Moycarkey goals in the fourteenth and twenty-sixth minutes helped them into a 3-9 to 0-10 lead at the interval. Kilruane had suffered a blow in the twenty-fourth minute when Jerome Cahill had to leave the field with a hamstring injury.

The Magpies got the second half off to a flying start when Shane Cleary fired over a point. However, direct from Rhys Shelly’s puckout, Jack Hayes latched on to the breaking ball to score Moycarkey’s fourth goal and put them ten clear. To Kilruane’s credit, they kept battling away, and a Cian Darcy point cut the gap  to four with twelve minutes still left A pointed Moycarkey free stalled the comeback, and the Mid team ran out deserving winners.

Borris-Ileigh have been favourites before a ball was pucked in this championship. It will take a herculean effort by our team to carry the day against very formidable opposition.  Supporters are asked to make their way to Nenagh and get behind the team.
