Senior
In the third round of the County championship, we play Toomevara this Saturday, 24th August, in Nenagh at 3.45pm. This will be a huge test against a Toomevara side who are tipped by many to have a big say in the destination of Dan Breen. Admission is by ticket. Tap & Go will also operate.
U19
In the second round of the championship, we had a 5-21 to 0-12 home victory over Lorrha Rovers. As in the first round, the foundations for this latest victory were laid by a solid defence which supplied quality ball to the forwards who are now beginning to work as a unit. Inside the first minute, Tommy O’Meara had the sliotar in the net and at the interval MacDonaghs had a comfortable cushion. Lorrha Rovers came more into the game in the second half but the Kilruane always kept enough daylight between the sides. Team: Tom Austin (Capt), Danny Cahalan, Cathal England, Cian Hayes, Paul Molloy, Eamonn Coonan, Shane Cleary, Tommy Burriss, Cian Moyles, Cillian Healy, Jack Mulcahy, Tommy O'Meara, Michael Hennelly, Brian O'Meara, Michael Cleary. Subs; Andrew Hayes, John Hannan, Ray Quinlivan, Johnny Naughnane.
Seven of the starting fifteen got on the score sheet with two of the subs also chipping. 5-14 of the total came from play. In accordance with the wishes of the U19 management, individual scorers are not listed with every goal and point viewed as a team score.
In the third round, we are away to Kiladangan this Wednesday, 21st August at 6.45pm.
U15
In the ‘A’ semi-final, we play Roscrea on Thursday, 29th August in Toomevara at 6.30pm. Our second team are away to Durlas Óg this Thursday, 22nd August at 7.00pm.
U13
In the ‘A’ quarter-final, we lost 3-12 to 1-6 Toomevara in Moneygall. Toomevara led 1-7 to 0-4 at the break. On the resumption, Tommy Ryan tacked on a goal and a point to haul MacDonaghs back into contention. Toomevara finished the stronger and were deserving winners though the final scoreline does not reflect the tremendous effort put in by the Magpies.
Team: Colin Gaynor, Robert Cleary, Riain Harte, Cian O’Looney, Ben Williams, Liam Dollery, Michael Hutchinson (0-4, 0-1 65), Tiarnan Casey, Conn Foley, Jack Ryan, Tommy Ryan (1-1), Mark Gaynor (0-1), Paul Williams. Subs: Isaac Hussey Sheahan, Luke Flannery.
Meanwhile the ‘D’ team were edged out by Newport in their quarter-final in Lacken Park.
Team: Ben Darcy, Cillian Foote, Cathal McLoughney, Brian Quinlisk, Callum Last, Ben Ryan, Aidan Fahey, Cian O’Brien, Harry Williams, Frankie Townend, Adam Darcy, Oran Farrell. Both teams now enter their respective Plate competitions. Our ‘C’ team play Borrisokane in the semi-final on Tuesday evening in Ballinderry at 6.45pm.
