After last Saturday’s hard-fought win over Moycarkey Borris we face Loughmore Castleiney in Semple Stadium on Sunday at 2.30pm. This game will be broadcast live on TG4.
In the second round of the championship we lost out to Toomevara in a sun-drenched St. Cronan’s Park in Roscrea on a 0-24 to 0-15 scoreline. Borris-Ileigh will provide the opposition in the third round which will take place on the weekend of 22nd August.
Our campaign came to an end when we lost out to Roscrea in the quarter-final in Moneygall. Thanks to Mark O’Leary and his management team who put in a big effort with this squad.
Our teams had mixed fortunes last week. Our second team traveled to Ballycahill and got the better Mullinahone while our first team lost out at home to Nenagh.
We travelled to St. Michael’s Park Toomevara for last week’s games. Despite losing out, both teams acquitted themselves well. Toomevara prevailed in the ‘A’ game on a 2-6 to 1-2 scoreline and shaded the verdict in the second game on a 4-0 to 1-4 scoreline.
Michael Cahill Cup
The Cahill Family presented the Michael Cahill Cup to the North Tipperary Board in memory of Michael Cahill (1952-2019). The trophy will be awarded the winners of the North Tipperary Junior ‘A’ hurling championship. Marian Minehan and Michael Kennedy accepted the trophy on behalf of the North Board.
It is appropriate that Michael’s name will be perpetually linked with this championship as he won North junior medals in 1975 and 1985. Michael also refereed numerous North junior finals, the first in 1978 between Borris-Ileigh and Knockshegowna which was played in MacDonagh Park,
The club extends best wishes to Ray McLoughney who has emigrated to United Abu Dhabi. As a sixteen-year-old Ray played on the MacDonaghs intermediate team that won the County final in 2003. He has been an integral part of our senior team since then.
Congratulations to Jonathan Cahill and Grace Ryan on their recent marriage.
The club extends sympathy to Barry, Lorraine and family on the passing of Baby Michelle Dunne Keeshsan, Lahorna.
