Senior

In the fourth round of the County League, we lost 2-21 to 2-16 against Toomevara in St. Michael’s Park. On a perfect evening for hurling, Toomevara had the better of matters in the first half and led 0-12 to 0-10 at the interval. On the resumption, a point by Michael Cleary and a fortuitous goal by  Kian O’Kelly put MacDonaghs two clear. In the forty-fourth minute, Toomevara scored their first goal. However, within a minute Kian O’Kelly raised his second green flag to put Kilruane two in front as we headed into the last quarter. With ten minutes left, the sides were level. In the fifty-third minute, Toomevara found the net for the second time and they finished stronger down the home straight to deservedly claim victory.

Team: Páidí Williams, Cormac Kennedy, James Cleary, Cormac Doheny, Brian O’Meara, Niall O’Meara (0-1), Cian Moyles, Cian Darcy (0-2), Cathal England, Thomas Cleary, Willie Cleary (0-8, 0-6 frees), Tommy O’Meara (0-1), Michael Cleary (0-2), Kian O’Kelly (2-1), Charlie Kennedy, Subs: Jerome Cahill (0-1) Conor Cleary, Mark O’Neill, Conor Austin, Michael Hennelly.

Walkathon

The clubroom was packed to capacity last Wednesday for the information night on the new pitch. Kilruane MacDonaghs has launched an exciting new community Walkathon Fundraiser, “40 Miles for 40 Years,” to mark the 40th anniversary of the club’s All-Ireland Club Championship victory and to invest in the future of the parish. The fundraiser will support the development of a new pitch and a 1km community walking track, facilities that will benefit the wider community for generations to come.

The club is calling on all members of the community — young and old - at home and abroad to get involved and support the campaign. Individuals, families, teams, and local businesses can take ownership of a mile and contribute through sponsorship and fundraising efforts. Anyone interested in participating or supporting the initiative is encouraged to contact any committee member for further details. The Walkathon will take place in early July with the date to be finalised next week.
