Senior

In the second of the County League, we drew with Mullinahone in MacDonagh Park. We put 1-17 on the scoreboard in reply to 0-20 from the visitors. Two minutes into the second half, we edged two points ahead  with the breeze at our backs. It looked like we would drive on from here. However, the concession of two frees gave Mullinahone a chance to draw level and it appeared to galvanise them. In injury time, we trailed by three points and it seemed a game we were destined to lose. To the players’ credit, they kept their composure and points from Cian Darcy (free), Kieran Cahill and Niall O’Meara levelled the game. The next round is at home to Borris-Ileigh on the weekend of 14th April.

Team: Kevin Naughnane, Ciaran Coffey, James Cleary (0-1), David O’Sullivan, Cian Moyles, Niall O’Meara (0-3), Eamonn Coonan, Kieran Cahill (0-3), Conor Austin (0-1), Cathal England, Páidí Williams, Willie Cleary (1-7, 0-6 frees), Conor Cleary (0-1), Kian O’Kelly, Cian Darcy (0-1 free). Subs: Aaron Morgan, Eoin Hogan, Brian O’Meara, Paddy Ryan, Eanna Hogan.

Junior

In the second round of Division 5, we lost 3-17 to 2-15 against Gortnahoe Glengoole in MacDonagh Park. We had a dream start with a Kevin Shinners goal in the opening minute, but Gortnahoe with the aid of the breeze, led 2-10 to 1-5 at the interval. MacDonaghs battled gamely in the second half but couldn’t reel in the Mid men. Kevin Shinners sustained an injury in the final minutes and was forced to leave the field. As a precaution he was taken to hospital. The good news is that Kevin was released that night and is on the mend.

Team: Conor Doheny (0-2 frees), Sean Hayes, Eoin England, David Mooney, Eanna Hogan, Keith Broderrick, Danny Cahalan, Sean Quinlan, Brian O’Meara, Eoin Carroll (0-9, 0-8 frees(, Robert Austin, Paul Dwyer (0-1), Kevin Oakley, Kevin Shinners (1-1), Oisín O’Meara (1-2, 1-1 frees). Subs: Paddy Ryan, Cian Hayes, Simon Austin, Tom Austin, Matthew Moyles, Jonathan Cahill.

The next game is away to Mullinahone on the weekend of 14th April.
