Inter-County

Best of luck to Craig Morgan, Aaron Morgan and the Tipperary team against Cork on Sunday.

Senior

In the third round of the County League, we recorded a 1-17 to 0-17 home victory over Moycarkey Borris. In a game that was played in testing conditions, the visitors made the better start and led 0-4 to 0-1 after ten minutes. In the twenty-third minute, Michael Cleary got inside the Moycarkey defence and finished sublimely for the only goal of the game. At the interval, the sides were tied on 1-7 to 0-10. The crossbar had denied Moycarkey a certain goal when an effort from the edge of the square cannoned off the woodwork. Twelve minutes into the second half, MacDonaghs edged four points clear.  Moycarkey kept in touch and were pressing for the equaliser when Peter Carroll sounded the long whistle.

Team: Kevin Naughnane, Cormac Doheny, Jack Peters, Cormac Kennedy, Conor Austin, Kieran Cahill, Cian Moyles (0-1), Cathal England, James Cleary, Tommy O’Meara (0-1), Jerome Cahill (0-3), Willie Cleary (0-7, 0-5 frees), Michael Cleary (1-1, 0-1 free), Kian O’Kelly (0-2), Cian Darcy (0-1). Subs: Thomas Cleary (0-1), Eanna Hogan.

Junior ’A’

The ‘A’ team had a 1-17 to 0-17 victory over Fethard in the third round of the County League in MacDonagh Park.  In a remarkable coincidence, this was the exact same scoreline recorded against Moycarkey in the senior match, After playing against the breeze in the first half, we trailed 0-9 to 0-6 at the interval. Heading into the last quarter, the visitors had a four-point advantage. Kilruane hit  a purple patch and chalked up 1-6 without reply to seize the initiative and held off a late Fethard rally to win by three points.  Eight different players got their names on the scoresheet.

Team: Kevin Naughnane, Paul Molloy, Eanna Hogan, David O’Sullivan,  Cormac Gaynor, Paddy Ryan, Eoin Hogan (0-2), Johnny Naughnane, Charlie Kennedy (1-1), Cillian Healy (0-1), Eoin Carroll (0-1), Matthew Moyles (0-2), Páidí Williams (0-5, 0-1 free), Brian O’Meara (0-4, 0-2 frees), Oisín O’Meara (0-1).
