All-Ireland Finals

Congratulations to Niall O’Meara, Cian Darcy, Jerome Cahill and both Tipperary teams on a magnificent day in Croke Park. Niall O’Meara became the sixth MacDonaghs player to win an All-Ireland senior hurling medal. He followed in the footsteps of Tom McLoughney (1961 & 1962), Len Gaynor (1964, 1965 & 1971), Mark O’Leary (2001), Seamus Hennessy (2010) and Brian O’Meara (2010). In addition, the following parishioners also won All-Ireland senior medals: Jim Dwyer (1887 Thurles), William Spain (1889 Dublin) and Jimmy Cleary (1917 & 1920 Dublin). After last Sunday eight MacDonaghs players have won All-Ireland minor medals: Eamon O’Shea (1976), Enda Hogan (1976), Michael Conway (1980), Eoin Hogan (2006), Seamus Hennessy (2006 & 2007), Jack Peters (2012) Cian Darcy (2016) and Jerome Cahill (2016).Thanks to all our supporters who flew the blue and gold. Club officials are to be complimented in replicating the miracle of the loaves and fishes in their deft handling of the ticket distribution.

Senior

MacDonaghs take on either Borrisokane or Burgess in the North semi-final on next Sunday, 11th September at 3.30pm in Nenagh. Your support would be appreciated.

Under 16

After a thrilling quarter-final game MacDonaghs lost out to Borris-Ileigh on a 3-18 to 2-19 scoreline after extra time. In normal time the result could have gone either way. The lights came on for extra time and, despite a great effort by MacDonaghs, the home side just shaded the verdict. Thanks to the players and management for a huge effort during the year.

Under 10

Two teams travelled to Newport to take part in the North Tipperary blitz. Silvermines, Ballinahinch, Newport, Borris-Ileigh and Templederry also participated. Thanks to Paudie Malone who organised the games.

Under 8

MacDonaghs organised a blitz last Saturday in MacDonagh Park. The home team had twenty-seven players involved in games against Kiladangan and Portroe.

New York

Congratulations to Cian Williams who was part of the Tipperary squad that won the New York championship.

Meeting

A General Meeting of all members and supporters will take place in the clubroom on this Wednesday, 7th September at 8.00pm. Arrangements for the North final, which will be played in MacDonagh Park on 18th September, will have to be put in place. It will take a huge effort from everybody to ensure that the whole occasion runs smoothly.
