Parish League

This week saw a great start to our u8/u10 Parish League in Ardcroney. With the sun shining we were treated to some exciting Round 1 matches as the green and orange teams emerged victorious. The Green team continued their winning streak after a very close game and the Reds recorded their first win after Round 2. The last Round matches will be played in Ardcroney on Wednesday evening at 7pm. With both red and orange on equal points the winner of this encounter will contest the cup final while the loser will compete for the shield. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday night!

U12

The under 12 camogie team travelled to Dolla last week and had a one goal win over Silvermines. It was the home side who started the best and had 1-1 on the board before Ali O’Kelly pointed for kilruanes first score.  A good ball from Christine Percy found Clodagh Shinners who made no mistake in finishing to the Silvermines net. Soon after a long ball from Abigail Clarke found Ali O’Kelly who pointed for Kilruane once more. Silvermines were unlucky to see their effort hit the crossbar and molly Carroll was on hand to clear.  With Eibhlis Hannan very tight in the back line and Lucy Gould and Sarah Cleary clearing ball after ball scores were at a minimum.

The first half finished with Silvermines ahead by 1 point 1-3 to 1-2.

Kilruane introduced 4 subs at half time and they worked hard from the off. A Kilruane attack saw Ava Gaynor fouled and she coolly slotted over her free to level things .  Silvermines were not to be outdone however and scored the next 2 points to put them in front once more. Clodagh Shinners pointed after good work from Sophie O'Meara to leave Kilruane just one point behind. Kilruane were defending well , a Sarah Williams volley was a vital interception and Katie Mulcahy made a great save to keep Silvermines out.  Kilruane finally managed to take the lead with an Ali O’Kelly goal after a good ball from Ciara Barry.  The lead increased to 3 points when Ava Gaynor handpassed to Clodagh Shinners for Kilruanes last point. Final score 2-5 to 1-5.

This was a great team performance from all 17 players and marked the improvement in the girls who had lost to this Silvermines side earlier in the year.

With 2 wins now out of 3 Kilruane must play favourites Annacarthy this week and are then away to Moycarkey on Tuesday 11th.

Intermediate

This Sunday's encounter with Thurles saw our intermediate Camogie team's first defeat of the championship thus far. The girls now have time to regroup as their next match against Newport will take place in two weeks time.
