The u-21 hurlers qualified for the North final with six points to spare against Borris-Ileigh on a 2-15 to 1-12 scoreline. After a slow start MacDonaghs got into their stride and opened up a seven point lead with Michael Costello grabbing a goal from a narrow angle. Borris finished the half strongly with four points to leave MacDonaghs three ahead at the break. Borris-Ileigh added a point on the resumption before MacDonaghs upped the tempo and helped by a Colm Williams goal they opened a nine point gap. A late Borris penalty left six between the sides at the final whistle.
