Membership Due
Senior Hurling
The senior hurlers begin their county league campaign with an away game against Boherlahan-Dualla on Sunday. Check county fixtures for confirmation of time. Templederry Kenyons and Cashel King Cormacs are also in the group.
FitzGibbon Cup
Ray McLoughney scored five points for WIT in the FitzGibbon Cup semi-final but unfortunately a goal in stoppage time by UCC denied the Waterford side a place in the final.
Indoor Hurling
The indoor hurling season is now in full swing. There was an increase in numbers at last Saturday’s u-6 session with a enjoyable time being had by players, parents and coaches. Newcomers are still very welcome. On Monday evenings the u-8s are in action at 6.30 p.m. followed by the u-10s at 7.30. On Wednesdays the u-12s take to the floor at 7.30 p.m.
Membership
There has been a tremendous response from all juvenile players to the membership renewal initiative by the club and there has been a very favourable reaction by parents to the information booklet issued to all families. Membership is mandatory for all players both juvenile and adult. The fee for 2009 is: adult players €40, student players €20, non playing adults €20 and juveniles €10.
Club Final
Best wishes to Dinny Cahill, Oisín O Neill and the Portumna team in the All-Ireland Club final on St. Patrick’s Day.
GAA 125
To mark the 125th anniversary of the GAA has set aside May 10th as Lá na gClub. On that day all clubs will be arranging a series of events to celebrate the role of the GAA in the community. The club will be setting up a sub-committee to finalise plans for this special occasion. Friday April 24th has been designated Schools Day with all the local schools already planning their activities.
Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the Hogan and Deane families on the death of Ann Hogan Ballyhasty.
