Minor
In the first round of the championship MacDonaghs lost out to Toomevara in Moneygall on a 1-19 to 1-13 scoreline. Toomevara had the aid of the breeze in the first half, but it was Craig Morgan who opened the scoring with a point. A sharper and more determined Toomevara side took over and hit 1-7 without reply. The goal came after a short puckout caused difficulties for the MacDonaghs defence. Toomevara continued to dominate against a very lethargic Magpies side and went to the dressing room with a healthy 1-11 to 0-3 lead. The breeze weakened in the second half, but MacDonaghs improved considerably. However, Toomevara always had a comfortable cushion. A goal from a penalty by Cian Darcy reduced the gap to five points but that was as close as it got. Any hopes of an unlikely victory evaporated when MacDonaghs were reduced to fourteen men inside the last quarter. It was a very indifferent display by team that lost a number of players since they contested the U16 final two years ago. Conor Lillis and Mark O’Neill were also out injured Team: Jack Dunne, Kevin Oakley, Oisín O’Meara, Kian O’Kelly (0-1), Cormac Mannion, Jerome Cahill (0-1), Sean McAdams, Craig Morgan (0-1), Nathan Ryan, Kevin Shinners, Devlin Courtney, Cian Darcy (1-10), Jake O’Kelly, Regan Courtney and Martin Grace. Subs: Rory McCarthy and Owen Usman. Nenagh will provide the opposition in the second round in Toomevara on this Wednesday, 20th July at 7.30pm.

Photos
This is the final appeal for photos. The updated club history “Kilruane MacDonaghs 1970-2013 Heirs to a Proud Tradition” is being launched on Friday, 14th October. We are still seeking photos particularly from the 1970s and 1980s. Don’t assume we have the photo in your possession. Contact Gilbert Williams 087-2176452 if you can be of assistance. All photos will be scanned and promptly returned.
Patrons
We have now 103 patrons who have pledged €5,870— €4,800 has already been paid over. There are so many patrons now on board that the publisher has suggested that it might be easier to name the people who are not patrons. After mature reflection, we have decided to go with the original plan and name the patrons in the book. We have patrons from Arizona, Chicago, Perth, Kilkenny, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Shannon Rovers, Burgess, Lorrha, Nenagh and all corners of the parish. Contact Gilbert Williams 087-2176452 to have your name included as a patron. “Kilruane MacDonaghs 1970-2013, Heirs to a Proud Tradition,” will be launched on Friday, 14th October by Len Gaynor. For as little as €50 you too can become part of the club history by becoming a patron. All patrons will be acknowledged in the publication. Thanks to all who have contributed to date. The committee will probably erect a plaque in the clubroom to honour the patrons. No decision has been finalised.
