Strictly Come Dancing
After weeks of speculation, conjecture, leaks and rumours, the pairings for Strictly Come Dancing have been finalised and are as follows: David Carroll and Eileen Finn; Martin Spain and Liz Williams; Peter Hennelly and Breda Flannery; Tommy McDonald and Faye Ryan; Thomas Williams and Jennifer Hodgins; Jonathan Cahill and Mary Walsh; Michael Daly and Annemarie O’Meara; Johnny Spain and Linda Austin;`Jim Cleary and Eileen Quinlivan; Seamus O’Sullivan and Danielle Franks; Tim Dwyer and Paula Connolly; and Eamonn Gaynor and Lynsey Dunne. Barring injury, the dancers will line out as selected. Thanks to all of them who are now preparing diligently for the big night. The fundraiser takes place in the Abbey Court Hotel on Friday, 1st April. Tickets, costing €20, are now on sale. As demand will exceed supply, immediate purchase is advisable to avoid disappointment. Business owners and individuals are invited to place an advertisement in the special souvenir programme which will be on sale on the night. In conjunction with this venture, there is a raffle. You can buy a line from any of the contestants or committee and they are also available in the local shops. There are a number of prizes, including two All-Ireland hurling tickets. The juvenile and camogie clubs anticipate that they will both be in a good “fiscal space” after 1st April.

Child Welfare Course
Twenty-three juvenile, senior and camogie club members completed the Child Welfare Course in the clubroom last Thursday. Thanks to all who attended and a special word of gratitude to Seamus Delaney from the JK Brackens club who delivered the course in a very professional manner.

Clothes Collection
The MacDonaghs juvenile and camogie clubs are organising their annual Clothes Collection between Monday, 16th May and Saturday, 21st May. We had a tremendous response in previous years and we anticipate that supporters will rally to the cause once more.

Cloughjordan Heritage
Cloughjordan Heritage Volume 1X will be launched by Len Gaynor in the Heritage Centre on Friday, 26th February. This latest issue is being published to coincide with the 1916 Centenary and will be of special interest to GAA followers in the parish. There is an article on the legendary De Wets, focussing on their exploits between 1901 and 1908 and there are also some rare GAA photographs in the book. Do you know that the first player to score three goals in an All-Ireland hurling final was born in the parish? Read about him in the latest publication. Of course, the 1966 Golden Jubilee celebrations are recalled with pride.
