Senior Hurling
Kilruane MacDonaghs will take on Roscrea in the first round of the North championship. On this Sunday they are away to Ballingarry in the first round of the Challenge Cup. Check fixtures for time.
Junior Hurling
The junior hurlers will face Moneygall in the opening round of the championship. Knockshegowna, Toomevara, Borris-Ileigh and Templederry are also in the group.
U21 Hurling
Kilruane MacDonaghs have been drawn against Nenagh Éire Óg in the first round.
Minor
The minor hurlers will begin their campaign with a game against Borris-Ileigh. They will also play Nenagh, Toomevara, Roscrea, Newport and Ballina. The footballers begin with a home game against Kildangan and they will also meet Burgess and Shannon Rovers Gaels in the group games.
Juvenile Training
The U8s commence training in The Complex on next Monday March 3rd at 6.30pm. The U10s are in action on the same night at 7.30pm. The U12s are indoors every Tuesday at 7.30pm, while the U16s are on the hurling wall at the same time. The U14s have switched to Thursday nights at 7.00pm.
Coaching Course
Thanks to all who completed the Foundation Coaching Course in the Thomas MacDonagh Complex. The course was a joint venture between the juvenile and camogie clubs. David Needham, the new Games Promotion Officer, conducted the course which was held on three different nights. David proved to be an excellent tutor and all the attendees were very impressed by his professionalism.
Juvenile Presentation
The U16 hurlers, North and County champions, and the U14 hurlers who retained the North Féile title will be presented with their medals at a function in the Thomas MacDonagh Complex on Friday March 7th at 8.00pm. Guest of honour will be Tipperary legend Brendan Cummins. A hot buffet meal will be served at 8.00pm. Players on both panels are free, while parents and supporters can purchase tickets @ €10 from Sean Ward 087-6537799, Gilbert Williams 087-2176452, Mark Spain 087-6923083 and John O’Meara 087-2749187. Tickets for children under sixteen will be available at a subsidised price of €5.
Medal Presentation
The senior club is joining forces with the camogie club for the presentation of medals. On Saturday March 8th the U21 hurlers, North champions, and the junior camogie team, that won the county final, will be presented with their medals at a function in The Thatch, Ballycommon. Buffet will commence at 9.00pm (sharp). Former Kilkenny star Eddie Brennan will present the U21 medals and current Tipperary star Paddy Stapleton will do the honours for the camogie team. Table Quiz
Thanks to all who attended the All County Table Quiz in Bomber’s Bar. Congratulations to Liam Tierney, Greg Whelan, Brenda Ainsworth and Michael Cahill who will go forward to represent Kilruane MacDonaghs in the county final in Thurles on Friday March 14th. Thanks to the Tom and Rene for hosting the event and to Michael Cahill who supplied the amplification. A special word of thanks to Carmel Daly and John O’Meara who were very competent and efficient correctors.
Meeting
The monthly meeting of the committee will be held on this Wednesday February 26th at 8.00pm. All committee members are asked to attend.
Club Plan
The Five Year Club Plan will be launched in the clubroom on this Wednesday February 26th at 9.15pm. All our members and supporters are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Fashion Show
The camogie club is holding a Fashion Show in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh on Friday February 28th. Tickets are €10 each. Everybody who purchases a ticket will be included in a draw for a €300 holiday voucher.
