Under 14

The U14 hurlers advanced to the semi-final with a 1-10 to 2-4 victory against Borrisokane in Gardiner Park. MacDonaghs were without the services of Nathan Ryan, while Oisín O’Meara was just returning from a serious hand injury. On a damp evening the home side settled better and after five minutes were 0-2 to 0-1 ahead. MacDonaghs began to impose themselves on the game and coming up to the break had built up a five point lead with the score 0-7 to 0-2 in their favour. Borrisokane struck for a goal and a point to leave the minimum between the sides as they adjourned for the interval. On the resumption Kilruane began to assert their authority. The outstanding Jerome Cahill drove them on from centre-back. Substitute Dylan Moran whipped a ground ball to the net to open a seven point gap. As injury time approached seven points still separated the sides. Jack Larkin goaled from a twenty metre free and the resultant puck out was pointed to leave MacDonaghs three clear as Christy McLoughlin sounded the long whistle.
