County Championship

The senior hurlers advanced to the second round of the county championship with a merited 0-16 to 0-9 victory against a determined Borrisokane side in Toomevara. MacDonaghs had the aid of the wind in first half and hit ten points in reply to 0-4 from Borris. The lead should have been greater but ten wides were struck, many from very good scoring positions. Borris looked to be in a good position at the break, but MacDonaghs upped the tempo of the game in the second half. The defence was secure, with Jack Peters very solid in the number three shirt. Borrisokane scored only three points from play which is a tribute to the MacDonaghs defence. On next Saturday they face Toomevara in the second round in Nenagh at 7.30pm.
