All-Ireland Semi-Finals

The club extend best wishes Brian O’Meara, Jack Peters and both Tipperary teams in Croke Park on Sunday.

Under 14

The U-14 hurlers qualified for the North Final when they had a 1-19 to 1-1 away victory against Nenagh. They now face a formidable challenge against Newport in the final which is expected to take place on this Saturday. Team: Mark O’Neill, Eoghan Mulcahy, Arran Conroy, Oisín O’Meara, Martin Grace, Rory McCarthy, Tommy Dooley, Nathan Ryan, Jerome Cahill ( 0-2), Conor Lillis (0-2), Cian Darcy (1-8), Ben Healy (0-1), Luke Dervan, Craig Morgan (0-1) and Kevin Shinners (0-4). Subs: Cormac Mannion, Seamus O’Meara, Liam Hannon, John Blagdon, Kevin Oakley, Alan Spain and Christopher Moyles.

Under 12

The U-12 B team lost out to a very good Roscrea side in the North final In Ballinderry on a 5-7 to 0-6 scoreline. It was a great achievement for this team to reach the final, recording victories against Toomevara, Nenagh and Kildangan on the way. Team; Pádí Williams (0-5), Eoin England (capt), Kieran Spain, Patrick Hayes, Luke Morkan (0-1), Joseph Donnelly, Conor Quinlan, Ben Cahalan and Sam Darcy. Subs: Owen Farrell and Phelim Quinlisk. Congratulations to Roscrea who were deserving winners.

Minor

The minor hurlers lost out at home to a very useful Nenagh side in the third round of the championship. MacDonaghs trailed by six points at the break and with twenty minutes left there was still only a margin of five. However, Nenagh finished with a flourish for a comfortable victory. MacDonaghs battled gamely all through, but Nenagh had a more balanced outfit. Fifteen year old Darragh Peters was outstanding and he looks a good bet for a county minor place next year. Darragh got good support from Kieran Cahill, Jack Peters, Conor Austin and Paddy Ryan. Team: Niall Shinners, Caolainn Conroy, Tomás Hogan, Bob Dooley, Conor Austin, Jack Peters, Aidan Boyle (0-1), Stephen Cleary, Darragh Peters, Paddy Ryan (0-1), Kieran Cahill (2-4), David Mooney, Enda Mulcahy, Conor Cleary (0-2) and Sean Cleary. Subs: Finnian Mannion, James Cleary and Conor Doheny.

Junior

The junior hurlers lost to Moneygall in Toomevara in the final group game on a 3-12 to 2-6 scoreline. MacDonaghs got a dream start with goals from Colin England and David Williams inside the first five minutes. However, they couldn’t sustain the effort for the hour and Moneygall ran out deserving winners. Team: David Reddan, Cian Williams, Sean Hayes, Fergus England, Freddie Williams, Alan Darcy, Conor Austin, Willie Darcy (0-1), Scott Hodgins, Robert Austin, Mike Reddan (0-1), Morgan Conway, David Williams (1-0), Colin England (1-0) and Declan Barrett (0-3). Subs: Conor Cleary (0-1), Tomás Hogan, Stephen Cleary, Ronan Boyle and Timmy Walsh. Progress now depends on the result of the Toomevara and Boris-Ileigh game.

Sympathy

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the family of the late Sheila Bourke Shinrone and to Ita Cleary Ardcroney on the death of her sister.
