School Football
Kilruane N .S. overcame Newport N.S. in the first round of the championship on a 0-6 to 1-2 scoreline. Captain Shane O Meara won the toss and elected to play with the stiff breeze. Kilruane dominated possession and centre field Ben Healy kicked five points, including three from placed balls. Newport monopolised play in the second period and it took it great defending by the Kilruane defence to hold out against constant pressure. This was a great team performance by a team which had lost so many key players since last year. Jack Dunne was outstanding in goals and made some crucial saves. Shane O Meara and Mark O Neill were superb at the back. Ben Healy did Trojan work in the middle of the park. Dimunitive Aaron Morgan was the star in the attack and he got good support from Mathew Moyles and Alan Spain. Nominations
The club is seeking nominations for the position of manager with the following teams: junior A hurling, junior C hurling and minor hurling. Nominations should be made to secretary Kay Cahalan 0879059592 or chairman George O Leary 087122816 before the monthly committee meeting in mid October. Members must seek the consent of the nominee before submitting the name to the committee. If there is more than one nominee for a position a vote will take place at a general meeting in November. Nomination forms will not issue this year because this process has proved to be ineffective in the past.

U-10 Hurling
On last Saturday the U-10 hurlers participated in the Munster blitz in Sixmilebridge. They had victories against the host team, St. Josephs Doora- Barefield and Bodyke. On next Saturday they play in the Borris-Ileigh tournament and on Saturday October 15th the Kilruane MacDonaghs tournament will take place in MacDonagh Park.

U-8 Hurling
The U-8 hurlers participated in the Tommy Mulcahy tournament in Nenagh last Saturday. In the semi-final they lost out to a strong host team and were just edged out by Moneygall in the plate final.

Handball
Congratulations to Kevin Shinners and Jerome Cahill who defeated Kilkenny in the All-lreland U-13 doubles final.

Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the Dwan family Kilruane on the death of Brendan Dwan.
