prepared well for this clash. Supporters are urged to travel to Templemore and give strong vocal
support to the team.

Templemore on a 2-16 to 1-14 scoreline. Their opponents won’t be known for a few weeks.
Sean-Ghael Award
Congratulations to our club president Tom Cleary who was presented with his Sean-Ghael
award at a function in The Dome Semple Stadium last Sunday. He is a very worthy recipient
of this prestigious accolade. Tom has given loyal and unstinting service to the MacDonaghs
club for over sixty years. In 1950 he captained the junior hurling team which defeated Burgess
in the north final to win the club’s inaugural title in this grade. For many years Tom has given
inspirational leadership to varied farming organisations and he has received both local and
national recognition for his work in this area. He has filled the positions of vice-chairman and
chairman of the Kilruane MacDonaghs club and in both roles he provided calm and authoritative
guidance. He is a long time member of the Thomas MacDonagh Park committee and has always
been proactive in enhancing and developing its facilities. Tom is still an active member of the
club committee where his views are respected and his counsel often sought. Few in the parish
can have attended as many matches and in weather both foul and fair he’ll be there backing
MacDonaghs to the hilt. Last Sunday he was in Templemore to support the U-21s and you can be
certain he’ll be back there this Sunday backing the juniors and at the end of the game win, lose
or draw you will find him near the dressing room having his customary chat.
Congratulationsto Niall Williams who was also honoured with a Sean-Ghael award. Niall began his
career withKilruane MacDonaghs before going on to give outstanding service to Toomevara both on
and offthe field.
