Medal Presentation

The presentation of the divisional medals to the U-21 hurlers and the O Riain Cup medals to the senior hurlers takes place on Friday Mach 19th in The Complex at 8.00 p.m.. The Kilruane MacDonaghs junior hurling team of 1960 which defeated the Moycarkey-Borris intermediate team to win the county title will be guests of honour on the night. The sub committee organizing the function has their plans well advanced for what promises to be a great occasion. A full meal will be served at the function and tickets at the subsidized price of ten euro are available from George O Leary, Kay Cahalan, Mary McLoughney, Susan O Brien, Michael Cahill and Gilbert Williams.

All-Ireland Final

Congratulations to Niall O Meara and Eanna Hogan who lined out with the Tipperary Vocational Schools team in their victory against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final in Thurles and to Thomas Cleary who was a member of the panel.

FitzGibbon Cup

Seamus Hennessy and Shane Quinlan lined out with NUIG in their victory over Cork IT. This victory gave NUIG top spot in the group and a place in the knockout stages. Ray McLoughney was on the Waterford IT team which secured a home quarter-final after their five point win against UCC.

Indoor Hurling

The indoor hurling is now in full swing. On Monday nights the U-8s are first on the boards at 6.30 p.m., followed by the U-10s at 7.30 p.m. On Tuesday nights the U-12s are in action at 7 o clock.

Hurling Wall

On this Friday February 26th Paudie Butler will conduct a session on the hurling wall at 6.45 p.m. with one of our teams. All selectors and coaches are invited to attend.

U-8 Blitz

On this Saturday our U-8 hurlers will be involved in a blitz in The Complex at 10.00 a.m.. The selectors will forward details to parents. The U-8 management is investing in a new set of jerseys which will in use by the players in the next few weeks. To defray the cost the juvenile club has scheduled a bag packing day in Dunnes on Saturday August 14th.

U-10 Blitz

On Saturday March 6th the club will host Borris-Ileigh, Roscrea and Moneygall in an U-10 blitz in MacDonagh Park at 10 o clock. The selectors will be in contact with parents regarding the arrangements.

Hogan Cup

The senior hurlers have received a bye into the semi-final of the Hogan Cup where they will have a home tie against the winners of Moneygall and Portroe on Sunday March 7th at 12 o clock.

Helmets

Helmets are compulsory for all players this year. Juvenile helmets are available from the managers of the various teams or from Gilbert Williams at a subsidized price of 40 euro.

Sympathy

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the O'Brien, McBride and Nugent families on their recent bereavements.
