Kilruane MacDonaghs Camogie Notes
Indoor training resumes on this Wednesday night 18th in the GAA Complex Cloughjordan from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. New players are welcome. Training will start promptly at 6.30pm. Players are reminded to wear suitable sports gear and helmets – hurleys will be provided.
Commiserations to the U16 panel who were defeated by Thurles on Sunday last in Thurles. Missing two key players, the team worked exceptionally hard against a strong well-drilled Thurles team. Kilruane were leading at half-time on a score-line of 1-3 to 0-2 but quick scores from Thurles early in the second half put the Kilruane defence under huge pressure. Kilruane threw everything at the Thurles defence but were unable to get through for the vital scores. Final score 3-3 to 4-7. Team: Sarah Coonan, Laura Downey, Katie Kennedy, Nuala Ryan, Shauna Tooher, Claire Kennedy, Niamh Gibson, Maria Hogan, Louise Hogan, Eimear Starr, Mary Walsh, Aine Kennedy, Shauna Heffernan, Eibhlin Enright, Kelly Hodgins, Subs: Roisin Cahill, Niamh Costello, Emma Cleary, Helen Hogan.
Thanks to the management of Bernie Meagher, Sinead Williams and Philip Heenan for their commitment and dedication to this panel and to all the players for their hard work during the year. Special thanks to Barney Naughnane for all his hard work with this team during the year.
Congratulations to Laura Downey who has completed the Green CARD foundation level referee course as part of her Transition Year course in Borrisokane CC. We look forward to seeing her officiate in the years to come.
The U18 championship will be starting this weekend with our first match to be played against Thurles in Cloughjordan. Panel will be notified by text with details.
The club will be bag-packing in Dunnes Stores Nenagh on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th December next. The committee will be organising a rota for both days and will be contacting parents and senior players shortly. All support would be greatly appreciated to raise much needed funds for the club.
