Junior

Hard luck to the Junior team who put in a great performance but unfortunately lost the semi-final of the Division 3 Munster League by 2 points on Friday evening. Despite being short a couple of regulars the girls worked hard and came very close. They now regroup and prepare for the Junior A and Junior B championships.

Under 18

In the first round of the 'B' championship the Kilruane girls travelled to Silvermines and just got the better of the home side on Tuesday July 9th . The Kilruane girls were slow to settle however and a strong Silvermines side had romped to a 6-point lead before Kilruane got into the game. Some positional changes helped to stem the tide. And forwards Roisin Cahill and Maria Hogan found their form to contribute 1-5 in the opening half and put Kilruane 1 point up at the break. Both sides had chances early in the second half, with wides at both ends. Roisin Cahill's ground ball looked set for goal, but for a fine save. A Roisin Cahill free was blocked by the goalie but the resultant clearance was gathered by Maria Hogan, who coolly slotted over and raised the side's first white flag. This two point lead was short lived however, and a Silvermines goal put them in front. They followed this up with two points and it looked to most people as if victory was with the home side. Great credit to the Kilruane girls who never gave up however and a Roisin Cahill goal brought the sides even. A late effort from full forward Niamh Gibson ended up in the back of the net and assured victory for the Kilruane girls. Silvermines added one final point to leave the full-time score 3-6 to 2-7 in Kilruane's favour. Training continues in preparation for the second round when Kilruane take on Moneygall at home on 23rd July.
