Junior

In the LIT Summer League the Juniors had a 2-12 to 1-7 win over Clare's Whitegate in Cloughjordan on Friday night last. Interestly, one of the founders of Kilruane MacDonaghs Camogie Club in 1969, the late Fr. Liam Murry, was also the founder of the Whitegate club. Down a number of players, the return of exam students was a timely boost to the Kilruane team. This Friday night the team travels to Crusheen to take on the home side in the final group game. This is a must win match for the Kilruane girls, with competition for places likely to be high. Many thanks to the hurling club who had the field in impeccable condition on a very bad evening. Thanks also to Kevin McDonald who manned the scoreboard for the night. Team: Noreen Maher, Katie Quinlisk, Mary Walsh, Sarah O'Sullivan, Tricia Hogan, Joyce Tooher, Niamh Costello, Fiona Ryan, Marie Ryan, Carmel O'Brien, Clodagh Hodgins, Shauna Heffernan, Roisin Cahill, Orla Williams and Maria Hogan.

Under 12

The Under 12 team played Burgess in the Shield County Final on Saturday in the Camogie Grounds in The Ragg. With both sets of backs well on top, the half-time score was all square at 1point each. Aine Spain was introduced for the second half. The game continued in the same manner with scores almost impossible to come by. In the closing minutes Laura Shinnors finally broke through the Burgess rearguard and goaled for Kilruane. Blathnaid Conroy also added a point to give a four point lead. In the dying minutes Kilruane put the game beyond doubt with a final goal to leave the result Kilruane 2-02 to Burgess 0-1. The Chairman of Tipperary Camogie, Kilruane's Joe Cahill, was delighted to present the Shield to captain Blathnaid Conroy. Team: Orla Molloy, Amy Hill, Ali Mulcahy, Louise Torpey, Tara O Brien, Blathnaid Conroy (Capt), Mickaela McGrath, Molly O'Brien, Katie O Meara, Laura Shinnors, Cliodhna Nevin. Subs: Aine Spain, Evanna McCarthy, Jessica Reddan, Abagail Quinlivan and Aoife McCarthy. Thanks to Michelle Larkin from The Country Kitchen in Borrisokane who sponsored crisps and drinks for the girls, and also for the lovely goodies that were provided for the girls at half-time.
