Junior
Many thanks to Shane Broderick, who gave a motivational talk to the Junior panel on Friday night last. Shane had each and every member of his audience captivated, and is an inspiration to us all. Thanks to his friend and carer Danny who accompanied Shane. Thanks also to Peter McCarthy for facilitating the night. Training continues for our county semi-final. Fixtures yet to be confirmed.
Under 12
Both of our U12 teams were in action on Saturday afternoon last in Cloughjordan.
The first game was against Kildangan in the U12C league - this was a thrilling game with both teams getting some great scores. Kilruane kept the pressure on but found it difficult to break down Kildangan's defence in the dying minutes of the geam and Kildangan emerged eventual winners on the day. Team: Orla Molloy, Louise Torpey, Amy Hill, Tara Lillis (K), Clodagh Healy, Laura Shinners, Bonny Conroy, Leah Heffernan, Mickela McGrath, Cliodhna Nevin, Jessica Reddan, Molly O'Brien, Tara O'Brien, Katie O'Meara. This team now progess to the next round. Players will be notified by text of next fixture.
The second game was between Kilruane and Ballina in the U12B league, again this was an exciting game with great skills shown by both sets of players. Despite their best efforts, Kilruane were unable to get the much needed scores as Ballina proved too strong for us on the day. Team: Meadhbh Heenan, Catherine Tighe, Ella Kennedy, Tara Lillis (B), Aoife Coffey, Amy Quinlisk, Sophie O'Neill-Reidy, Emma Conroy, Katie Gould, Aoife Sullivan, Britney Hogan, Michaela Lillis.
Juvenile blitz
Last Saturday saw the last u8 and u10 Blitzes of the year when we held our own Blitz in Cloughjordan. Teams from Shannon Rovers, Nenagh and Burgess came and some great games were played. After the games there was tea and refreshments served in the complex, and all girls received a medal for taking part. A well deserved break is now being taken for the winter months so enjoy the rest. We would like to thank Sorcha Heenan and Sarah Sullivan who referred the u10 matches and did a great job. Many thanks to all the parents for bringing food on the day, the complex was laden down with any amount of buns and sandwiches. Thanks also to the ladies who were queueing up to help out in the kitchen. It is great to see such community spirit. Thanks to all the selectors of these teams who have given their time to the club this year, and encouraged the talents of these young players.
Poker Classic
The club hosted our first Poker Classic in Nenagh Golf Club on Sunday last. Many thanks to the large number of poker players who turned out on the night to support us. Thanks to our tournament referee Eugene Ryan, who handled proceedings perfectly, and Lisa Dwan who took charge of registration. Thanks to all our sponsors who generously donated spot prizes. Thanks also to all those who made sandwiches and helped out with setting up and catering on the night. Thanks to Nenagh Golf Club for the hot food provided and the use of their premises. Finally, a big thank you to Bernie Meagher who organised the event on behalf of the club.
