GAA Club Notes
600 Club
There has been a phenomenal response to the 600 club confined draw. The twenty promoters report that all tickets have been sold out within two weeks. Draw co-ordinator Kay Cahalan asks that promoters make their returns immediately. The draw takes place in the Western Pass on Sunday March 16th.
Garda Cup
David Reddan and Justin Cahill were on the North Tipperary u-16 hurling team, which defeated Mid Tipperary in the Garda Cup semi-final. Niall O Meara was introduced and slotted over two points. Eanna Hogan and Eoin Williams were also on the panel.
U-12 Football
The u-12 footballers are away to Inane Rovers in the first round of the A championship. Nenagh Eire Og and Ballina are also in the group. The top team qualifies for the final with second and third placed teams meeting in the semi-final.
U-14 Football
The u-14 footballers are at home to Lorrha & Dorrha in the first round of the A championship. Portroe complete the group with the top two qualifying for the semi-final.
U-16 Football
The u-16 footballers are at home to Newport Gaels in the first round of the A championship. Burgess are also in the group with the top two teams making the semi-finals.
Colleges Hurling
Ray McLoughney was top scorer for the WIT team, which defeated DIT in the quarter-final of the FitzGibbon Cup. WIT now face UCC in the semi-final. Ger Corcoran, Mikey Costello and Shane Quinlan were on the UCG team, which defeated UCD in the Freshers quarter-final.
Indoor Hurling
Indoor hurling is now in full swing. The u-8s are in action every Monday night at 6.30 p.m. , followed by the u-10s at 7.30 p.m.. The u-12s train every Thursday at 6.30 p.m. with the u-16s on at 7.30 p.m.. The u-14s get together every Friday night at 8.00 p.m. .
Club Merchandise
To satisfy the huge demand for club merchandise supporters now have an opportunity to purchase hoodies, polo shirts, rugby shirts etc at club direct prices, which are much lower than normal retail prices. Application forms have been distributed through the schools and can also be downloaded from our website www.kilruanemacdonaghs.com. Order forms and money must be returned to Pat Shanahan, Jimmy Cahill or Sean Ward before Tuesday February 26th. No money, no order! This offer will not be available for the remainder of the year. A limited number of club woollen caps, costing €10 each, are available from Kay Cahalan or Gilbert Williams. First come, first served!
Membership
Membership is now overdue. The fee is €40 for players, €20 for non playing adults and €10 for students and juveniles. Membership is compulsory for all players. Members who have renewed their subscription by March 16th will be entered into a draw for two county draw tickets. Membership cards are available from any committee member.
Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to David McAvinchey on the death of his mother and to the family of the late Julia Connors Ballycapple.
