Under 21
Our ‘A’ team kept in the hunt for a semi-final spot with a 0-21 to 0-14 home victory over Nenagh Éire Óg in round two of the championship. On a day borrowed from the middle of summer, a decent crowd converged on MacDonagh Park, Cloughjordan for this encounter between two evenly-matched sides. It was a game without a green flag and few goal scoring opportunities for either team as the respective inside backlines were dominant. MacDonaghs started the game on the front foot and led 0-4 to 0-1 after eleven minutes. At the interval, the score was 0-10 to 0-6 in our favour. On the resumption, the sides traded four points. Inside the final quarter, the advantage had increased to eight points. Down the home stretch, Nenagh were forced to go for goals, but the home defence held firm and at the final whistle seven points separated the teams. Management will be encouraged by the improvement on the first-round display, but a few areas still need work if we are to reach the semi-final.

Our second team found the going tough against a full-strength Roscrea side in MacDonagh Park. The team battled gamely until the end and couldn’t be faulted for lack of effort.
