Junior
Both our junior teams are in action this Sunday, 22nd March. In the County League, the ‘A’ team plays Mullinahone in MacDonagh Park at 12.00pm while the ‘B’ team travels to Lacken Park to play Newport in the first round of the North League at 2.00pm.
Under 16
The U16 team travelled to Waterford last Sunday and played De La Salle in a challenge match before heading to Walsh Park to see Tipperary’s victory over Waterford. Thanks to the mentors for organising this trip.
Mighty Macs
We had a large attendance at the first session last Saturday. Activities continue this Saturday on the Astro Turf at 10.00am. All 4 to 6 year-old boys and girls are invited to attend. Wear runners. No hurls or helmets are needed. The emphasis is on fundamental movement, games and fun.
Dinner Dance
Two hundred patrons gathered in Ashley Park House last Friday night for a very successful Dinner Dance. Guest of honour was Galway legend Cyril Farrell. Brendan Shanahan Chairman of the North Board was also in attendance. Chairman Dave Carroll was a competent MC and kept proceedings moving swiftly. The successful U21 hurling and junior football teams were presented with their medals. Selectors Niall O’Meara, Eanna Hogan, Conor Doheny, Paddy Ryan and Darragh Peters received presentations in appreciation of their contributions. Kevin Shinners, North Tipperary Junior ‘A’’ Footballer of the Year, received his accolade from Brendan Shanahan. Presentations were also made to Shane Cleary, Cormac Kennedy, Charlie Kennedy, Cillian Healy, Hugo Healy, Jack Quinlisk, Michael Hennelly and Fergal Dohney who featured on the successful Nenagh CBS Harty Cup team. Craig Morgan was the recipient of a custom painting in recognition of his All-Ireland success with Tipperary.

Special guests on the night were the members of the 1986 Kilruane MacDonaghs senior team who were celebrating the fortieth anniversary of their All-Ireland club final triumph. The match was played on the big screen during the night with the younger members present intrigued with the absence of helmets and the presence of ground hurling. Each member of the team and management was introduced to the gathering and received a USB stick of the historic victory and a copy of the match programme.
Thanks to Eoin Campbell, who was on hand to record the night’s events on camera. A full gallery of photos will be posted on our Facebook page. Thanks to the management and staff of Ashley Park House for their excellent arrangements and superb meal. Thanks to Ballygunner, who made the Tommy Moore Cup available for the function. Thanks to Tradstone and our own DJ Jerome Cahill, who provided the music. A special word of thanks to the organising committee whose meticulous preparations ensured a memorable night for all present.
