We got the County championship campaign off to winning start with a 1-22 to 1-15 victory over Borris-Ileigh in Dolla. We had a dream start in the second minute when Cian Darcy set up Kian O’Kelly for a goal. With the aid of the light breeze, we led by six points as the interval loomed. James Devaney found the net in the thirty-second minute to cut the gap to three. On the cusp of halftime, Jerome Cahill fired over his fourth point to see MacDonaghs take a four-point advantage to the dressing room.
On the resumption, Borris-Ileigh clawed their way back into the game, and at the end of the third quarter, the teams were level on 1-13 each. The Magpies dug deep in the final furlong, adding nine points to their total while limiting Borris-Ileigh to two points to finish seven clear at the final whistle.

In the final group game of the ‘A’ championship, we face Nenagh in Puckane this Friday, 15th August, at 7.15pm.
The ‘B’ team has a home tie against Toomevara, this Saturday, 16th August, at 7.00pm.
U19
We secured a semi-final spot with a 3-15 to 0-18 victory over Toomevara in MacDonagh Park. We led 1-10 to 0-8 at the break. A pair of second-half goals from Johnny Naughnane and Fiachradh Ahearne Woods were crucial in chiselling out this victory.

Minor
The minors chalked up their third successive victory with a 4-17 to 1-18 victory over Kiladangan in Puckane. We led 3-8 to 0-10 at the interval. Three minutes into the second half, that advantage had been extended to ten. Heading into the final quarter, the home side had cut the deficit to four points, but MacDonaghs wrestled back control of the game in the closing stages to run out eight-point winners.

In the sixth round of the ‘A’ championship, we had a 3-19 to 3-16 victory away to Ballina. We led 2-10 to 1-9 at the break. We hit 3-17 of our total from play.

Our teams had mixed fortunes in the quarter-finals in Toomevara. The ‘D’ team overcame Kiladangan while the ‘A’ team were pipped 2-10 to 2-9 by Newport.

Last Saturday morning, we hosted Cashel for two very enjoyable games.
Tipperary Draw
The Tipperary Draw has moved online with the first draw on Friday, 22nd August. The first prize in the August Draw is €50,000 or a Ford Ranger Jeep.
