Inter County
Commiserations to Craig Morgan and the Tipperary team on the loss against Cork.
Senior
In the fourth round of the County League, we lost 1-26 to 1-23 away to Nenagh. The home side made a blistering start to the game and had twelve points on the board after twelve minutes. A goal from Thomas Cleary in the fifth minute helped us stay in touch. In the second quarter, MacDonaghs fared much better, and at the interval, we were just four points adrift with the score 0-18 to 1-11 in favour of the home side. On the restart, sharpshooter Willie Cleary cut the deficit to three with a pointed free. Nenagh struck back with a goal. MacDonaghs then had a purple patch and reeled off six points on the trot from Kian O’Kelly, Niall O’Meara, Willie Cleary (2 frees), Jerome Cahill (2) to tie up the game at 1-21 each with thirty seven-minutes gone. An Eoin Hogan point in the 45th minute saw us get our noses in front for the first time. Then it was Nenagh’s turn to gain the upper hand, and they scored four unanswered points to go three clear. The Magpies fought hard for the equaliser with Willie Cleary’s effort for a goal from a twenty metre free at the death cleared to safety.
