Allianz League
Commiserations to Craig Morgan and the Tipperary team on their loss against Cork in the Allianz League final.
Senior
The third round of the County League against Clonoulty Rossmore has been rescheduled for Thursday, 1st May, in MacDonagh Park, at 7.00pm. In the fourth round, we are away to Nenagh, Éire Óg on Sunday, 27th April at 10.30 am.
Junior
In the first round of the North League, our Junior ‘B’ team had a 1-22 to 1-12 victory over Knockshegowna in Ballingarry. With little or no breeze blowing, the game was played in ideal conditions under lights. This was the youngest junior team that ever represented the club. Even those who comb grey hair cannot recall a more youthful MacDonaghs outfit in junior ranks. Nine of the team are U18, Tom Austin is U19 while Danny Cahalan, Jack Mulcahy and Ross Austin are eligible to play U21. Of the starting fifteen, Robert Austin is the only player in a black and white jersey who has celebrated his thirtieth birthday.
MacDonaghs had an impressive opening and led 0-6 to 0-2 after the first quarter. At the interval, we still had a four-point cushion with the score 0-11 to 0-7 in our favour. With forty-seven minutes gone, we had extended our advantage to seven. A Knockshegowna goal from a free in the 51st minute left four points between the teams, and it looked like we were in for a nail-biting finish. However, Kilruane responded with a brace of Jack Mulcahy frees. In the 58th minute, Johnny Naughnane cut inside the Knockshegowna defence and batted the sliotar to the net to seal victory. Cathal McIntyre raised the final white flag of the game to leave ten points separating the sides at the finish.
Team: Tom Austin, Danny Cahalan, Fearghal Doheny, Jack Quinlisk, Cormac Gaynor, Ross Austin, Martin Grace, Cathal McIntyre (0-4), Tommy Burriss (0-1), Robert Austin, Johnny Naughnane (1-3), Fiachradh Ahearne Woods (1-3), Dara O’Looney (0-2), Jack Mulcahy (0-8, 0-6 frees), Ray Quinlivan (0-1). Subs: William Jones, Lucas Jones, Fionnan Hurley, David Mooney, Matthew Moyles, Cormac Mannion. Manager: Martin Walsh. Selectors: Ned Darcy, Fergus England.
The next game is at home to Shannon Rovers on Friday, 18th April, at 7.00pm.
In the third round of the County League, our Junior ‘A’ team play Galtee Rovers this Saturday, 12th April, in Bansha, at 3.00pm.
Minor
Tommy O’Meara lined out at full-forward on the Tipperary team that lost to Clare in the second round of the Munster championship. Tommy scored Tipperary’s first goal. In the third round, Tipperary play Limerick in Semple Stadium on Friday, 18th April, at 7.00pm. Victory is essential for Tipperary in this game to keep their championship hopes alive.

U15
In the first round of the championship, an understrength Kilruane MacDonaghs team lost to Toomevara in Ardcroney. Lukah Williams carved out a special place for himself in the club’s history when he had the distinction of scoring the first two-pointer for Kilruane MacDonaghs, bisecting the posts from a free in the first half.
Team: Ronan Hayes, Ben Williams, Mark Cleary, Colin Gaynor, Tiarnán Casey, Tadhg Teefey, Sean Whelan, Dylan Hussey Sheahan, Senan O’Leary, Harry Gannon, Mathias Moreno, Lukah Williams, Shane O’Meara. Ciaran Foote, Rory McLoughney.
In the second round, we are away to Ballina, this Thursday, 10th April, at 7.00pm.
