Senior
We play Templederry Kenyons in the quarter-final of the North championship this Thursday, 20th June, in Dolla at 7.00pm.
Junior
We had mixed fortunes in the opening rounds of the championship. In the first round, we lost 1-22 to 0-17 against Roscrea in Toomevara. With nine minutes left, we trailed by three points, but a Roscrea goal gave them a six-point cushion, and they emerged deserving winners.
Team: Kevin Naughnane (0-1), Paul Dwyer, Eanna Hogan, David Mooney, Rory Grace, Paddy Ryan, Conor Austin, Cathal England, Pat Conway (0-1), Robert Austin, Eoin Carroll (0-13, 0-7 frees), Brian O’Meara (0-2), Cormac Mannion, Oisín O’Meara, Kevin Oakley. Subs: Jonathan Cahill, Sean Quinlan, Cian Hayes.
In the second round, we bounced back with a deserved 4-16 to 1-19 victory over Nenagh in Puckane. Three first-half goals laid the foundation for victory. Conor Cleary raised the first green flag in the third minute when he cut through the Nenagh defence and buried the sliotar in the net. With half-time approaching, we were a point ahead. Conor Cleary set up Robert Austin for goal, and a minute later, Cormac Mannion capitalised on uncertainty in the Nenagh goalmouth to guide the sliotar home and give MacDonaghs a seven-point interval lead. On the resumption, that advantage was increased to ten when Kilruane fired over three unanswered points. Gradually, Nenagh clawed their back into the game, and heading into added time, we were three points in front. A Kevin Shinners goal clinched victory.
Team: Kevin Naughnane, Conor Austin, Cormac Doheny, Paul Dwyer, Rory Grace, Paddy Ryan, Eamonn Coonan, Pat Conway (0-2), Cathal England, Conor Cleary (1-2), Eoin Carroll (0-9 frees), Oisín O’Meara, Kevin Oakley, Cormac Mannion (1-2), Robert Austin (1-1). Subs: Brian O’Meara, Kevin Shinners (1-0), Jonathan Cahill, David O’Sullivan,
