In the semi-final Kilruane MacDonaghs play Nenagh in Puckane on this Saturday, 19th September at 5.30pm. The sides met in the opening round in Borrisokane with Nenagh recording a comfortable victory. MacDonaghs head into this encounter as rank outsiders but having chalked up three victories on the trot they are ready to give one mighty effort in the hope of upsetting the odds. There will be updates on our Twitter Page @MacDonaghsGAA.

Under 16

In the final of the ‘A’ plate MacDonaghs had to give best to a very good Silvermines outfit in MacDonagh Park on Sunday morning. The visitors were always in control and all though we battled gamely all through the result was never in doubt and Silvermines were deserving winners.

Under 14

We travel to Nenagh on this Thursday, 17th September to play the home side in the final of the ‘A’ Plate. Meanwhile, the second team head to Templemore to face JK Brackens in the semi-final of the ‘D’ championship on Saturday at 11.00am. There will be updates on both games on @MacDonaghsGAA.

Under 12 Hurling (Report by Martin O’Looney)

Both our U12 panels were in North Plate Final action last week. First up was the ‘D’ Plate final against Toomevara in Cloughjordan last Wednesday evening.

This was a great tussle against a strong Toomevara team.  At the half-time whistle Toome held a three- point advantage. MacDonaghs had a great start to second half with two goals from Paraic Nevin. Alas! it wasn’t to be and Toome ran out deserving winners on a 2-7 to 2-1 scoreline. Kilruane had a great campaign playing ten matches since restrictions were lifted.

Panel: Dara Gaynor, Jack Cleary (Capt), Kallen Grace, Aidan Troy, Oisín Carroll, Billy Hodgins, Cullan Haverty, Emmet Dwyer, Joe Murphy, Lukah Williams, Mark Cleary, Senan O'Leary, Tom Smith and Paraic Nevin.

Our ‘A’ team played Nenagh Saturday evening in the Plate final. This was a hard-fought match with Kilruane leading by a single point at first water break. A goal from Tommy O'Meara and a brilliant overhead flick from Charlie Kennedy gave Kilruane a six-point point advantage at half time.

A good team move saw Charlie add another major just after half time. A determined Nenagh scored two goals to bring them within striking distance. Some tremendous defending by Kilruane and a great work rate by forwards saw us win vital frees which the very reliable Cormac Kennedy converted to give MacDonaghs a deserved victory on a 3-7 to 2-5 scoreline.

Club Chairman Joe Whelan presented a delighted captain Shay Óg Kennedy with the winning trophy.

Team: Andrew Austin, Stasik Setikas, Shay Óg Kennedy (Capt) Conor McGrath, Cormac Kennedy (0-5 frees), Tommy Gaynor, Hugo Healy, Tommy O'Meara (1-0), Tom Campbell, Karl Ryan, James Gould, Charlie Kennedy (2-2, 0-2 frees), Gerard O'Looney.

Both panels have worked very hard all year and will be back training this week.

Under 10 & U8

On last Saturday morning we travelled to Puckane to play three games in the autumn sunshine against Kiladangan. At the same time, our U8 contingent made their way to Ballina to play three games against the home club. Thanks to the mentors and parents for looking after all our players at both venues.
