Senior

A 2-25 to 0-17 away victory over Holycross-Ballycahill secured top spot in our County League group and a place in the semi-final against Templederry Kenyons. In the sweltering heat — there was a water break in each half — MacDonaghs made a lightning start to the game and struck five unanswered points in the first five minutes. A goal from Thomas Cleary put the Magpies 1-8 to 0-2 in front.  At the interval there were thirteen points between the sides with the score 1-17 to 0-7. Holycross improved in the second half but any hopes of a revival were dashed in the 40th minute when Thomas Cleary crashed home his second goal. MacDonaghs saw out the game in a comfortable fashion to remain unbeaten in the League.  Team: Conor Doheny, James Cleary, Eoin Hogan, Stephen Cleary, Ray McLoughney, Niall O’Meara (0-1), Robert Austin, Justin Cahill (0-2), Seamus Hennessy (0-3), Conor Cleary (0-4), Kieran Cahill (0-8), Tomás Hogan (0-2), Conor Lillis (0-1), Thomas Cleary (2-3) and Eoin Williams. Subs: Conor Austin, Bob Dooley, Caoilainn Conroy, Cormac Mannion and Paddy Ryan (0-1). The semi-final is scheduled for the weekend of 8th July.
