Covid-19 Support

With the country in virtual lockdown and all over 70s confined to home our Healthy Club Committee has organised a large group of volunteers who are ready and willing to help anybody in the community who needs messages, fuel, prescriptions etc collected. Please contact our co-ordinators Martina 08798902128, Brian 0872535695 or Gilbert 0872176452 in the strictest confidence and we will do our best to help. All our volunteers will be adhering to the HSE Guidelines in relation to Social Distancing and Hand Hygiene.

The club is also part of the GAA/Centra/Supevalu initiative which aims to assist the most vulnerable at this time. There will be more information on this in the local and national media.

We have also linked up with the Cloughjordan Community Response Group. Their contact number is 0876428378. This week they are distributing over 1,000 information leaflets throughout the parish.

Skills Challenge

The videos continue to roll in as our young boys and girls respond to Skills Challenge launched by our Healthy Club Committee. To date we have received sixty-eight videos with great creativity shown in performing a multiplicity of skills in both hurling and football. On Twitter the videos have over 30,000 views. We have entrants from New York and Roscommon.

Boys and girls are asked to make a short video which shows them performing hurling or football skills. Some may opt to try the 30 Second Challenge. How many roll lifts can you do in 30 seconds? How many strikes off the wall can you do in 30 seconds? You can enter as often as you wish. All entries will be put into a draw for the new Kilruane MacDonaghs jersey. This is not a competition to find the best performers.

The Healthy Club Committee has decided to offer four of the new Kilruane MacDonaghs jerseys as prizes. There are two jerseys for the boys and two for the girls. In addition, there will be some sliotars to be won.

Tag us on Twitter or Facebook or WhatsApp your video to Gilbert 0872176452.

Over 40s Challenge

The Healthy Club Committee is inviting our over 40s to accept the 30 second challenge. When you submit your video, you can nominate a boy or girl and their name will be entered into the draw.

Mass

All Churches in the Parish will be closed until 12th April. Mass behind closed doors will be broadcast on 105.2 FM every Sunday at 11.00am and Monday to Friday at 9.30am during the Covid-19 Crisis.

Thanks

Kilruane MacDonaghs would like to thank all our members and supporters for their co-operation, patience and understanding during this difficult time. Everybody is urged to abide by the guidelines issued by both the Government and the HSE.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the McDonald family on the death of Sheila Kenney (née McDonald), New Jersey and formerly Main Street, Cloughjordan.
