Under 21

MacDonaghs qualified for the North final for the first time since 2013 with a well-merited 0-22 to 1-13 victory over Roscrea in Toomevara. The Magpies opened brightly but the radar was malfunctioning and at one stage they hit three wides in a row. After ten minutes the sides were level on two points each. Kilruane began to find their range and by the 20th minute they led by 0-6 to 0-3. They finished the half strongly to take a 0-12 to 0-4 lead into the break. In truth, the lead could have been greater but a few goal chances were spurned. In the second half Roscrea couldn’t eat into the lead. The nearest they got was seven points. Deep into injury time the margin stood at nine points. Roscrea converted a penalty to leave six between the teams at the finish. MacDonaghs are improving all the time. Next Saturday they face a formidable challenge when they take on the red-hot favourites Toomevara in Templederry at 1.30pm. The team will have to reach new heights to prevail in the final. Support for this team will be crucial on Saturday. Team: Conor Doheny, Bob Dooley, Stephen Cleary, Tom Dooley, Craig Morgan (0-1), Tomás Hogan, Conor Austin (Capt), Jerome Cahill (0-3), Darragh Peters, James Cleary (0-1), Conor Cleary (0-3), Caoilainn Conroy, Cormac Mannion, Brendan McAdams (0-1) and Cian Darcy (0-13). Subs: Niall Shinners, Finnian Mannion, Nathan Ryan and Conor Lillis.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Mick O’Meara, Bothar Mhuire, Cloughjordan. Mick played with the Kyle junior team and was a passionate Kilruane MacDonaghs and Tipperary supporter. His coffin was draped in the MacDonaghs colours and the blue and gold of Tipperary. Club members also formed a guard of honour at his funeral.
