Féile

The u-14 hurlers won the North Féile for the third time this decade when they overcame Roscrea in Dolla on a 2-14 to 0-3 scoreline on Easter Monday. Earlier in the day they defeated Borris-Ileigh in the semi-final on a 4-6 to 0-3 scoreline. MacDonaghs had a three point interval lead against Borris-Ileigh but three second half goals secured a final spot. In the final Kilruane had the assistance of the wind in the opening half and made a blistering start with full forward Conor Cleary notching 1-1 in the opening minutes. Sean Cleary and Stephen Cleary were dominating mid-field and Aidan Boyle was deadly accurate from frees and from play. At the break MacDonaghs had a ten point cushion. Roscrea fought hard in the second half but couldn’t reduce the deficit and at the final whistle MacDonaghs were deserving winners. After the game Sean Creamer, North Bord na nÓg chairman, presented the Maher Cup to captain Aidan Boyle. Congratulations to the entire panel, manager Pat Shanahan and his selectors Ger O Meara, D.J. Hayes and Liam Grace. In the county semi-final they will play the south champions. Junior Hurling

In the third round of the league the junior hurlers lost out Nenagh Eire Óg by nine points on a 0-25 to 1-13 scoreline. Playing with the wind in the first half MacDonaghs enjoyed a one point interval lead with the score 1-7 to 0-9 in their favour. However, Nenagh pulled away in the second half and deservedly took the points. U-12 Football

The u-12 footballers had a home win against Nenagh Eire Og in the first round of the championship on a 3-1 to 1-0 scoreline. Three first half goals, a brace by full forward Rory McCarthy and another from centre forward James Cleary, laid the foundations for victory. On next Friday they are away to Inane Rovers. Check fixtures for confirmation of time. Parish League

The annual Parish League will commence on Saturday May 2nd and will continue for the following three Saturdays with the finals pencilled in for May 23rd. All boys from third class upward will receive an invitation to participate. The juvenile committee will select the four teams, which will be published in the club notes and on the website.

Cúl Camp

The annual Cúl hurling and camogie Summer Camp takes place in MacDonagh Park from Monday July 6th to Friday July 10th. The camp is open to primary school children aged seven to thirteen years. Each participant will receive a jersey, shorts, socks and bag. The Cúl Camps are run professionally by trained coaches who follow a structured programme for the week. The cost is €55 for first child, €45 for second child and €35 for third child. Application forms will be distributed through the local primary schools next week.
